4 Week Beginner Wheel Throwing Course at North Pottery
Want to give wheel throwing a go?
Our 4 Week Beginner Wheel Throwing Course is a shorter introduction to pottery at North Pottery, running alongside our full 6 Week Beginner Course.
It’s perfect if you’d like to try your hand at wheel throwing without committing to a longer course. Over four relaxed and friendly sessions, you’ll learn the fundamentals of throwing and trimming while having plenty of time to practise and build your confidence.
With small classes of just 4 people, you’ll receive plenty of individual guidance and support throughout the course.

Across the 4 weeks, you’ll learn the basics of wheel throwing, including:
Preparing and wedging clay
Centring clay on the wheel

Throwing and shaping different forms
Developing your throwing technique
Trimming and finishing your pots
Building confidence and consistency on the wheel
The focus is on throwing and trimming, giving you a hands on introduction to working with clay on the wheel.
